So this edition is a Frontend developer special! Here's a roundup of things from me and Ben G that we've seen and enjoyed lately. Featuring: Gears of War stories, loot boxes, the dreamcast, and fun videos!
First up, I really enjoyed Vice's interview with Rod Fergusson about his work on the Gears of War franchise, and many other games to boot! It's got some interesting insights into the way the industry handles scope in the context of videogame project delivery.
In industry news terms, we've been grappling with the mechanics and morality of loot boxes recently. Kotaku has the latest on how a committee in the government here in the UK is advising the industry moves forward.
A variety of Death Stranding footage emerged this week. And it looks like the game is going to finally give us the option we've always wanted...
Last from me is a fun video. The crew at Giant Bomb have been challenging their community to build Mario Maker 2 levels, and if the hosts can't beat the level, then the user wins a free subscription to their premium videos. What results is a fun look at some of the creativity that Mario Maker unlocks, and - spoiler alert - the last level they attempt has a nail-biting finish that has to be seen!
I'm leaving you with a video too! Check this out, this guy built a 1,000 seater concert hall in No Man's Sky!
