Hello hello. The weather has turned down here in Southampton, and all those heatwaves have been replaced with grey. You know what that means though: More videogames.
Here's what we've been loving lately. Spoiler alert: Nintendo's Direct video stole the show, and it's a good week to be a Blizzard fan!
This past weekend I cracked out my N64 with my brother and since I've been rocking some retro WWF No Mercy and Mario Golf. I'm excited by the latest list of SNES games to be added to Switch Online as announced on the Nintendo Direct this week.
Overwatch was announced this week for the Nintendo Switch, and I continue to be amazed by the incredible longevity Blizzard have managed to get out of the game. Kotaku have taken a look at the state of Overwatch today and how far the game has come since launch.
WoW Classic has been my game of choice for the past 2 weeks, and I'm excited that now they've added free server transfers off of the more populated realms, I might be able to actually play during the week. 😛 I'm also excited for the NSO SNES stuff, I wanna give Super EDF a crack as I recently finished up my second play through of EDF4 and EDF5 which came out on PC recently.
Dan recommended that I check out Return of the Obra Dinn on Switch - which looks awesome! I also loaded up my Witcher 3 (PS4) save after a 4-5 month hiatus and had to completely relearn all the controls again. Plus, I can't remember much of the story. 🤷
I haven't been playing anything except the usual Rocket League and FIFA. I found this article interesting this week, which looks at how the name you give your app can make a big difference to your app store ranking.
This week I attended the Ukie Members day which was an excellent event. The Annual General Meeting included an interview with Jurgen Post who heads up International Partnerships (Europe) at Tencent and was an all round fascinating chap. I have also picked up a copy of Mario Maker 2 which I've not had much chance to enjoy yet but is coming on my holiday to the Lake District this coming week.
This week I've been working on integrating Editor.js in to Orchard Core, which will solve lots of our content editing frustrations and provide a vastly improved user-experience for our clients moving forward. It's one of many ways we've been investing in making our games-focused CMS offering better for everyone.
That's all for this edition. Have a great weekend!
