I don't want a lot for Christmas... There is just one thing I need...

Hey guys, it's December. Christmas is fast approaching, and we just launched our gift guide, and we're all off somewhere else right now on a company retreat exchanging gifts and eating turkey and generally re-connecting with each other after a lot of totally remote work.

That means the roundup this week is a special edition, because I think everyone forgot about it except me. It's an Adam takeover! Complete control! Muhaha. Anyway, here's some of the most interesting things happening in games this week.

Guildford Games in the spotlight

The Guildford Games Festival is happening today, December 3rd! Which  means if you're reading this in a timely fashion, you can head over to the Twitch page right now and enjoy hours (and hours) of video content about the games industry presence in Guildford right here in the United Kingdom. It's the Hollywood of Games!

There's loads of incredible stuff this year and we're really pleased to have helped get it all organised and put together. Make sure you check it out!

Call of Duty: Vanguard Sales

How come people aren't buying this year's Call of Duty game in the same numbers that they usually do? Good question. GamesIndustry.Biz took a closer look to reveal why some players are shying away from this mega franchise this year

Steam reaches new record highs

Over at PC Gamer, news broke that Steam has reached a new all-time high for concurrent users, with over 27 million accounts logging in at once. Steam may have new competition in the form of the Epic Games Store and rumours of a competitor coming from Amazon and Twitch, but for now they keep going from strength to strength.

Anachronox and Ion Storm

We love deep dives into the game development process, unearthing some of the incredible tales behind classic games. Thanks to VICE Waypoint for this one, which charts the surprising backstory of Anachronox. Get a cup of tea and a biscuit for this one, but it's well worth a read.

R.I.P Titanfall 1

Respawn Entertainment announced this week that they're removing the original Titanfall from sale - and it will be removed from subscription services like EA Play on or before March 1st 2022.

Respawn did not give a reason for the game's removal, but the multiplayer-only title had suffered from years of DDoS attacks and disruptive trolling behavior

Other stuff

Oh man, you like stuff? We've got stuff. So much stuff. Come say hi over on Twitter, follow us on Twitch and subscribe on YouTube to get all the latest news, views and clips of us playing games badly you could possibly ever want.

This week's episode of our show is all about the run up to Christmas, and makes a good primer on what to buy for the game fans in your life if you're feeling a bit out of the loop. You can watch it below.

Normal service will resume next week (I hope). Ciao!
