Shareup Soton returns to Etch

“Do. Or do not. There is no try.” - Master Yoda

Left feeling inspired after an awesome Hacksoton, the clever folk at Moov2 have set the wheels in motion for the next Shareup Soton

Happening on May 4th, Star Wars Day nonetheless (lightsabers optional), the event aims to bring together digital content creators, encouraging them to dust off old projects and commit to the things they’ve been meaning to do for ages.

Planning to write a blog post, code a website, start a podcast or write a novel? Shareup is just the place for you. Whether your forgotten project, or exciting new idea, involves writing, video, coding, artwork or doing a jig, the event can help you achieve your goal – and make a new friend in the process.

That’s right, not only do you need to declare your goal during the event, but you’ll be randomly allocated a ‘buddy’ who is there to help you through the process. They may have a completely different Shareup commitment to you, but that’s part of the beauty of the event. You don’t need to understand each other’s projects, but merely give a gentle nudge in the right direction and check it’s working as expected. Or if you want to get more involved, share skills and help your buddy, that’s cool too.

Previous commitments have included; blog posts, live code streaming, Barcamp presentations, event write-ups, website builds, ebooks, digital painting and more…

What do you need to know?
Shareup is a free event, you just need to bring yourself and an idea. Or, other attendees can help you think of one on the day.

We won’t force you into making a huge commitment, and there’s no pressure on what you produce, just that you produce something. You can be more adventurous when you’re ready, young Jedi.

There’s also a short presentation by a fellow Shareup attendee, a few beers and the chance to meet new people. We hope to see you there, and remember…

“Do. Or do not. There is no try.” - Master Yoda
